Laptops for AI development

What this page answers

For AI development, prioritize known RAM, CPU, storage, and graphics thresholds — not a single performance score.

Local ML/gen-AI only when a dedicated GPU and VRAM are known.

Representative software: Local Generative AI.

What matters for this work

• At least 32 GB RAM (hard spec check)
• At least 8 GB GPU VRAM (hard spec check)

Preferred / inferred checks: Dedicated GPU. These can limit a recommendation; they are not vendor certifications or benchmark results.

We currently recommend 71 current or recent laptops rated GREAT or GOOD because their known specs pass those hard thresholds. Amazon availability is not required to appear here.

Unknown fields stay unknown. A GREAT or GOOD state is a spec-gate, not a lab benchmark.
